"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". This is true, but changes can evolve over time. What is pleasing to one eye may be dull and mundane/ordinary to another at that moment in time. For example when I think of Bariatric surgery, a concept of Metamorphosis comes to mind. This procedure can alter a person's life and appearance so dramatically, for someone once perceived as dull/ordinary and overweight, can be transformed over time into a slim vibrant human being radiating joie de vivre and a new found confidence - Truly a person whose hidden beauty has come to the surface for all to see.
By using metamorphosis as a metaphor, I have created five small paintings that capture the essence of this transformation.
